Claude James Schilling, 85, of Alcova, Wyoming, formerly of Altoona, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2026. He was born on September 29, 1940, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Loren and Laura Schilling.
Claude proudly served in the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd Division He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later served a two-year mission in the Central Atlantic States Mission. He married Corita Thom, and they were sealed in the Manti Temple.
Throughout his life, Claude served in many church callings, including Bishop of the Eau Claire Ward and High Council member in the St. Paul, Minnesota Stake. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and steady moral leadership.
Claude worked most of his life as a trainer and developer of employee talent at several companies and he had many hobbies and interests. He was a ham radio operator, and contributor to the Eau Claire Sky Warn weather system. He was a talented photographer winning numerous awards and helped to establish the Eau Claire Photography Club. He was an avid reader, especially history, and he was a dedicated member of Toastmasters, earning the Distinguished Toastmaster Award three times.
He is survived by his wife, Corita; children Aaron (Marie) and Adam (Kellyn); grandchildren Lauryn, Christopher, Allison, and Gabriella; and step-grandchildren Thomas, Grace, Makenna, Lita, and Dieon.
Claude will be remembered for his faith, service, and the kindness he extended to all.
A visitation and family prayer will be held at 1:30 p.m. followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. on Sat. Jan. 31, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3931 W 45th St, Casper, WY 82604.
