Claude Dean Tinsley, affectionately known as "Spanky", was born on March 10, 1966, to the late Shirley Murray Tinsley and the late Thad Dean Tinsley, Sr. He was educated in the Spartanburg County School System and was a proud 1984 graduate of Broome High School.
Claude served faithfully in the United States Navy and later worked for many years in the trucking and construction industries.
He was known for his talkative nature and his love for movies. A true movie buff, he often enjoyed imitating his favorite characters on screen. Claude was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a man who took pride in hard work and laughter.
At an early age, he joined and was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Ciera Whitney (Travis) Scott and Devonte' Tinsley both of Spartanburg, SC; siblings, Angela Tinsley of Cowpens, SC, Thad Tinsley, Jr., and Martin (Brenda) Tinsley both of Spartanburg, SC; aunts, Pamela Lowrance, Emma Hawes, and Marie Tinsley; uncle, Terry (Melody) Murray of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Jordan Williams, Brice Scott, Haven Oden, Blessing Tinsley, Honor Tinsley, Truth Tinsley and Angel Tinsley; friends, Ricky Hodge, Joey McAbee, and Ronald Woodruff.
On Sunday, November 2, 2025, Claude transitioned at Spartanburg Medical Center. He will be missed.
