Mr. Claude Townsend, a devoted family man and avid outdoorsman, transitioned from this life on November 10, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Grady, Arkansas, Claude graduated from Grady High School in 1975. Shortly after, he began what would become a remarkable career as a Master Welder, dedicating over 30 years of craftsmanship and service to Hall Tank Company until his retirement.
Claude was a man of many passions. He found joy and solace in nature, spending countless days deer hunting and fishing-pastimes he cherished deeply. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for music, especially the soulful sounds of the blues. Claude was also known for his deep love of cooking, and he took great pride in preparing meals for family, friends, and fellow hunters. Whether frying fish, grilling wild game, or perfecting a family recipe, he found true joy in feeding others.
Claude proudly served as the Treasurer of the Buck Shot Hunting Club, where he formed lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Sylvester Bell and Charles Bell; sisters Evelyn Bell-Young, Mary Bell-Parks, and Alma Bell Roberts; and his beloved son, Claude D. Townsend.
Claude leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Faye Burse-Townsend; his siblings Theodis Townsend (Jackie), Ruby Bell-Parks, Vivian Pitre, Ida Allen, Laura Richmond, and Eddie Lee Colman; his children Deanna Bryels (Houston, TX), Stacie Burse (Atlanta, GA), Trinikka Burse-Jackson (Little Rock, AR), and Jerrica Burse (Arlington, TX); and ten grandchildren: Claude D. Townsend Jr., Camariyon Townsend, Deanna Townsend, Favion Bell, Taylor Rice, Caiden Burse, Phasia J. Johnson, Jordan Jackson, John Johnson Jr., and John'Etta Johnson. He is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Bell, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Claude will be remembered for his quiet strength, loving spirit, dedication to family, and his joy in sharing the things he loved most-good food, good music, and the great outdoors. His legacy of love, hard work, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
