Claus D. Meyer

Brunswick / North Royalton, Ohio

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Claus D. Meyer, who left this life surrounded by love on October 14, 2025, at the age of 85.

Claus was born in Germany to Karl H. Meyer and Frieda (Politz) Meyer. Claus was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl (wife Hilde deceased), and sister Gisela (husband Gerhard deceased). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife and best friend of 34 years Linda (Sumerauer) Meyer, and by his sister Ingelore (husband Jerry deceased). He is also survived by brother-in-law Walter Sumerauer (wife Tracy).

Claus will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He is lovingly survived by his sons and their families:

Karl Meyer (partner Laura), and his children Nathaniel (wife Ashley), Victoria (husband Jackson), and Jarred.

Claus Meyer (wife Sherrie), and their children: Nicholas (wife Courtney), Samantha (husband Dave), Amanda (husband Matt), and Carl (partner Jessica).

He was a loving grandfather of seven, great-grandfather of eleven, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A committed member of Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Royalton, Claus served faithfully in the choir, sharing his gift of song and his love for worship. His faith was central to his life-he was a strong Christian man who loved God and cherished his family.

Professionally, Claus worked as a tool and die maker, first with Tremont Tool and Gauge and later with LUK, where he applied his skill, precision, and dedication throughout his career. Claus proudly taught apprentices for nearly 10 years after his retirement.

Outside of work and church, Claus lived fully. He shared a passion for traveling with his wife Linda across the U.S. and to many foreign countries. He was very active for 40+ years within the local German community. Claus loved working out, dancing, skiing, and bicycling, and was passionate about soccer - both playing and coaching. His warmth, encouragement, and joyful spirit touched many lives through these pursuits.

May Claus's memory be a blessing to all who knew him, and may his legacy of faith, family, and service continue to inspire.

A visitation and funeral service will be held to honor his life. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19th from 2pm to 6pm at Waite Funeral Home at 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio. Visitation will also be held Monday, October 20th from 10am to 11 am at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church at 11680 Royalton Road, North Royalton, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow beginning at 11am at Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Hope Memorial Gardens in Hinckley, Ohio. He will rest in the peace of Christ, remembered for his integrity, his devotion, and his generous heart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Claus' name to Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church or The Hospice of Western Reserve.

Online condolences and memories may be left for the family on Claus' guestbook at www.WaiteFuneralHome.com.
