Clayton Thomas Bannan passed away on January 8, 2025, in Broomall, Pennsylvania, at the age of 63. He was born on July 28,1961, to Marsha (Hazelwood) and the late Thomas Bannan in Camden, New Jersey. In his adolescence he had a strong attachment with his beloved German Shepard named Dawn, whom he always remembered fondly.
Clayton graduated from Ridley High School, then continued his academic pursuits at Delaware County Community College. His hard work and perseverance allowed him to graduate Cum Laude from Villanova University in December 1991, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He achieved this degree while simultaneously working as a technician for the electrical engineering department. His passion for electronics and computers was not just a career but a calling that he pursued with relentless dedication.
His devotion to his alma mater was evident as he dedicated 35 years of service to Villanova University's Electrical Engineering Department as a Computer Systems Engineer. Those who worked alongside Clayton spoke of his kindness and his willingness to go above and beyond to assist colleagues and students alike. His time at Villanova ended with a well-deserved retirement in November 2023.
In his free time, he was always in the midst of creating or repairing. A master of all things electronic, he was also an avid Ham Radio operator. Those who knew Clayton best would describe him as a man of many talents, always ready to lend a hand or share his knowledge.
His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding his actions and interactions. He valued integrity and was a generous person who showed care for those around him.
Clayton's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his mother Marsha, who was married to the late Frank Vasaturo, his children Katie, Danielle, Emily, and Sarah Bannan, and his friend and mother of his children, Kathleen "Kathy" Bannan. His sister, Holly (Bannan) DeRoy, and her husband, Scott, along with his nephews, Greg and Alan Clark. All will fondly remember Clayton's good-humored spirit and generous heart.
Amidst all of his accomplishments, Clayton also showed strength and courage in his battle with mental illness. He will be deeply missed by those close to him. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to NAMI Philadelphia (National Alliance on Mental Illness). https://namiphilly.org/get-involved/donate/
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, January 16th, 2025 from 6 to 6:30pm in Logan-Videon Funeral Home, 2001 Sproul Rd., Broomall, PA 19008 followed by a Celebration of Clayton's Life in the funeral home at 6:30pm. All are invited to share.

I am sorry for your loss. I just finished watching the video on Clayton and tears are flowing. I had the honor to work with Clayton at Villanova. He was a man of great knowledge. He was very kind to me when I onboarded and was so supportive. He showed great strength and courage, and he was always in my thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of Clayton's passing. What a kind, gentle soul he was. I worked at Villanova and had come across his path a few times and he was always a sweet and approachable person. Prayers to his family at this difficult time.

I only worked briefly with Clayton at the College of Engineering but his calm, kind presence was always very much appreciated by me. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time, and I wish them peace and healing.
