Clayton Joseph Becker, 77, of Saint Joseph, MO passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at Wathena Healthcare.
Born on June 11, 1948, in
Seneca, Kansas, Clayton was the beloved son of Henry and Cordula Becker. He was a proud graduate of Corning High School in Corning, Kansas, and went on to serve his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
After returning from his military service, Clayton explored his calling, briefly attending the seminary before shifting his focus to higher education at Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph, Missouri.
Then Clayton partnered with his brother, Clem, to open a television business. There he built a reputation as a hardworking, dedicated entrepreneur who was always ready with a smile and a helping hand. His family and friends knew him as someone who was deeply committed to those he loved and a man of integrity who worked tirelessly for everything he achieved.
Clayton's life was marked by his deep sense of loyalty to his family, his country, and his community. He enjoyed spending time with loved ones, particularly during the holidays, where he was always the center of conversation, sharing stories from his past and offering advice with a mix of humor and wisdom. Above all, Clayton was known for his kindness and generosity.
However, he was also known for his fantastic ability to survive multiple crashes in a short time. When his mother said she was worried about him getting hurt in Vietnam. She was told he was safer there than here, in the US, in a car.
Clayton was also a man who knew how to enjoy life. He cherished the time spent with his friends and loved ones, often gathering for a friendly(sometimes) game of cards, a round of golf, or a competitive game of softball. He was an avid bowler. Many fond memories were made at the local lanes, where his competitive spirit shone through in every game. These moments of fun and camaraderie were an important part of Clayton's life, and he leaves behind a legacy of laughter, good times, and lasting friendships.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Cordula Becker, and his beloved sister, Theresa Alverson. Clayton is survived by children: Kelsey Becker Stoll(Jake), Megan Gaul(Brett), Ryan Roberts, Matthew Roberts (Robyn); Grandchildren: Blakely and Briggs Stoll; Ethan, Quinn and Cecilia Lowe; Charles, Henry and Oliver Roberts; brothers, Clem Becker (Marjorie), Leon Becker (Pat), Roger Becker (Eve), Dan Becker (Becky), and John Becker. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and the lasting impact he made in every life he touched.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on August 30, 2025 at St. Patrick Church in Corning, KS with visitation starting at 9:00 A.M. and rosary starting at 9:30 A.M.
