Clayton "Clay" Lamont Woolen, 76, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, with his children by his side. Clay was born on July 8, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan to Phyllis and Doial Woolen. He grew up in Clay Center, Nebraska, and Springfield and Beaverton, Oregon where he attended local schools. In 1970 he proudly served his country in the US Army. On October 6, 1973 Clay married the love of his life, Susan Harper, in Newberg, Oregon. Together Clay and Susie raised three children – Charity, Alicia, and Jesse – and built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. The family moved to Newberg, Oregon in 1980 and Clay worked for Allen Machinery until his retirement. Outside of work he was happiest surrounded by his family, whether celebrating holidays, camping, fishing, beachcombing, or tending to the BBQ at family gatherings. He is survived by his brother Norman (Steffanie) Woolen; children Charity (Dan) Smith and their three children, Alicia (Charlie) James and their four children and four grandchildren, and Jessie (Jessica) Woolen and their three children. Clay was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Susie; brothers Jerry and Rodger; and his parents, Phyllis and Doial Woolen. All who knew and loved Clay are invited to join his family in celebrating his life on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Roots & Rye Hop Farm & Brewery in Carlton, Oregon.
