Jetmore - Clearnce Birdell Fakes, 92, passed away March 15, 2025 at Village Manor, Abilene.
He was born June 3, 1932 in Hodgeman County, Kansas the son of Roy Birdell and Ammie Killgore Fakes. A longtime area resident of Hodgeman County and the surrounding area; he was a Probate Judge for 9 years and also worked at the Kansas Job Service Center, where he received multiple veteran service awards.
He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Odd Fellows and was a Mason. He served as President of the Kansas Association of Probate Judges for a few years.
On November 10, 1957 he married Wilma Nuss; they later divorced and she survives.
Other survivors include; a son John Fakes, Aurora, Colorado and a daughter Nancy (Terry) Lucas, Abilene; five grandchildren; Kimberly, Kelly, Jessica, Zachary and Jeremy and eight great grandchildren, Jennifer, Madison, Brooklyn, Rayne, Mabel, Cooper, Elliott and Levi.
He was preceded in death by; four brothers, Howard Stephenson, Herman Fakes, Mervin Fakes and Virgil Fakes; and four sisters, Rosie Berger, Bertie Simpson, Eva Thomas and Odessa Smith.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore with Pastor Maria Grimm presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at the Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials may be given to the Home Health and Hospice of Dickinson County, in care of Beckwith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 663, Jetmore, Kansas 67854. Personal condolences maybe left at www.beckwithfuneralhome.com.
