Joretta Jo "Butch" Fakes

Joretta Jo "Butch" Fakes, 86 of Tipton passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at home with her family at her side. She was born in Sharpsville, Indiana to Charles & Burnice (Cage) Johns. On September 11, 1955 she married Dick Fakes. The couple enjoyed 56 years of marriage before Dick's passing on October 18, 2011.

She graduated from Tipton High School in 1955. After her graduation and getting married, Butch settled in to her new role as a housewife and mother. She loved being a housewife and mother to her four children. Her house was always busy and full of love. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family and friends. Butch also enjoyed being outdoors camping with her family.

Butch is survived by four children, Jeffery Fakes of Tipton, Jennifer Palko and husband Dan of Pilot Point, Texas, Julie Boruff and husband Mike of Phoenix, Arizona, Jamie Atkisson and husband Mike of Tipton; a brother, Daniel L. Johns.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Joshua Fakes and wife Brittney, Caitlin Portell and husband Jeffery, Hannah Fakes, Sarah Willig and husband Brooks, David Childers and wife Taylon, Rebekah Childers, Mikalah Childers, Trent Atkisson and wife Danielle, Erik Atkisson and wife Addy, Ethen Atkisson and wife Jenny; 10 great-grandchildren, Jace Fakes, Sophie Fakes, Brody Fakes, Patsy Garcia, Emmierae Childers, Marshall Atkisson, George Atkisson, Collin Atkisson, Zoey Atkisson, Kire Atkisson.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Joyce Beerbower, Charles K. Johns, Eldon Robert Johns, a daughter-in-law, Lori Fakes; and a brother-in-law, Richard Beerbower.

The family will conduct private services at a later date. Young-Nichols Funeral Home is honored to assist the Fakes family in their time of need.
