Clellon Folmar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. on Dec. 13, 2025.
Clellon E. "Jim" Folmar, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Williamsport at the age of 87. Born on April 18, 1938, in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, to the late Clellon E. and Vonnell (Powell) Folmar, Sr., Jim lived a life full of dedication to his family, community, and passions.

Jim was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a profound love for his model train collection, often spending countless hours perfecting each detail. Sundays were reserved for cherished family drives after church, and he took great pleasure in exploring the open road with his family. Jim adored traveling and created countless memories during trips to Canada, visiting the Washington Zoo, marveling at the views from White Face Mountain in New York, and standing in awe at the Statue of Liberty.

He retired from Frito Lay as a truck driver and loved what he did so much, that he went back to work for Eck's Agway and drove for another 16 years. Jim was a retired Master Sargent-Army Reserve. His military friends called him "Earl". While in the reserves he served in two NATO Exercises: Operation Bright Star and Operation Dragon Hammer.

A lifelong resident of Antes Fort, Jim was an integral part of his community. He was a lifetime member of the Antes Fort Fire Hall and served with pride as a project manager for both the Antes Fort Village Caboose and Train Station. His dedication extended to the Jersey Shore Veterans Park, where he played a significant role in its development, and he was a proud member of the Jersey Shore Veterans Council. Jim also served as a Nippenose Township Supervisor, demonstrating his commitment to community service.

Known for his hands-on approach, Jim built a sawmill and personally cut all the lumber to construct the beautiful home he envisioned, showcasing his tireless work ethic and creativity.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his son James Folmar, sister Nadine Hazen and her husband Richard, and brother Edward "Burley" Folmar. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra L. (Getgen) Folmar; sons Clellon E. "Clell" Folmar, III (Becky), Joseph Folmar (Denise), and Mike Folmar; daughters Susan Scanlan (Randy) and Tammy Lorson (Scott); daughters-in-law Tammy Folmar and Michelle Folmar; and grandchildren Stephanie Waldt (Ryan), Alex Folmar (Shelby), Richelle Haffley (Matt), Ryan Scanlan (Chelsy), Travis Scanlan (Amber), Benjamin Folmar, Lindsay Folmar, Taylor McPherson (Derrick), Colton Folmar, Kelsey Folmar, Cody Lorson (Kaitlin), Dillon Lorson, and Hunter Lorson; as well as 15 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends during a public viewing at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, 118 Kendall Avenue, Jersey Shore, officiated by Father Rev. Michael S. McCormick. Interment will follow at Jersey Shore Cemetery.

Donations can be made to the Antes Fort Volunteer Fire Company or St. Luke Catholic Church, Jersey Shore.

Gathering after Funeral Service will be held at Antes Fort Volunteer Fire Company, 231 Front Street, Antes Fort, PA 17720.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home. The family invites those who knew Jim to share fond memories and condolences online at www.rearickcarpenter.com.
