CHILDRESS, Clemmon V., 80, passed away November 30, 2010 at his home in Virginia Beach. Born in Ashland, Va., he was one of 10 children of the late George Henry and Myrtle Mallory Childress. He graduated from Henry Clay High School in Ashland and joined the Navy in 1948 serving 22 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Russell "Rusty" Childress of Richmond; granddaughter, Amelia Childress of Virginia Beach; great-granddaughter, Heaven LaShae Ross of Alabama; brothers, Robert, Pete and Thomas Childress, all of Ashland; and sisters, Lucy C. Hall of Richmond, Virginia C. Mallory and Anna C. Hall, both of Ashland. Clemmon is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his sons, Richard, Larry and wife, Carmen, Michael and wife, Nancy, all of Virginia Beach; daughters, Carol C. Rowell and husband, Sonnette, of Alabama and Patricia C. Gregory and husband, Larry, of Virginia Beach; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three stepchildren; the mother of his children, Rose Childress of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Lou C. Highum of Albuquerque, N.M., Audrey C. Bryant of Midlothian and Belle C. Webb of Cabool, Mo.; and a large extended family in the Ashland area. Funeral services were held on December 4, 2010 at London Bridge Baptist Church. Interment followed at Princess Ann Memorial Park in Virginia Beach.
