Patricia DeShields Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Granby Chapel on Nov. 26, 2025.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." – John 3:16

Patricia Ann DeShields was a woman whose heart was as big as her smile - loving, devoted, and full of grace. She passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a family who will forever cherish the warmth and wisdom she shared.

Patricia was born to Anna D. White and George S. White Sr. on March 23, 1948. She was raised by her grandmother, Annie Watson, and attended school in the Philadelphia school system. She graduated from William Penn High School and made many lifelong friends, and built a foundation of kindness and strength that would guide her throughout her life.

On January 17, 1976, Patricia married the love of her life, Frank DeShields. Their marriage was a beautiful journey of fifty years – one built on deep love, laughter, and unbreakable companionship. Together, they created a home filled with joy, family, and faith.

Patricia was a proud and loving mother to Karen Carter and Kenneth Pride, Jr., and she poured her heart into nurturing and supporting them every step of the way. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and her love extended to her beloved grandchildren - Anthony Pride, Ashley Stevens, and Alex Robinson, and her precious great-grandchildren, Anthony Brown-Pride and Nathan Gravely.

Patricia's kindness, strength, and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. She had a special way of making people feel seen, loved, and welcomed - whether through a warm hug, a heartfelt conversation, or one of her comforting meals.

She leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of love that will live on in all of us who were blessed to know her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her light continues to shine brightly through her family and the many lives she touched.

On Sunday, November 23, 2025, Patricia entered eternal life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna D. White and George White Sr.

Patricia is survived by her beloved husband, Frank DeShields; her children, Karen Carter & Kenneth Pride Jr; her grandchildren, Anthony Pride, Ashley Stevens, and Alex Robinson; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony Brown-Pride & Nathan Gravely. In addition to her immediate family, Patricia leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
