Cleo Franda, 88, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on August 15, 2024, with her family at her side. Cleo was born in Rosiere to the late Edward and Helen (Willems) Bellin on September 14, 1935. After high school, she attended and graduated from Door-Kewaunee Teachers College with the class of 1955. On July 16, 1955, Cleo married Kermit Franda at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Rosiere. Together they raised five children.
For several years, Cleo taught at the Thrift School near Dykesville. A couple of her former students even came to visit her just before she passed. She and her husband operated a farm in Little Sturgeon for many years. She also worked at the Alpine in Egg Harbor, in the office at Jellystone Campground, and as a bailiff for the Door County Court.
In retirement, Cleo loved wintering in Arizona where she and Kermit made a lot of good friends. She also enjoyed following the Packers, playing cards with friends and going to the Casino. Cleo was a natural hostess and great cook who could put together an amazing Friday night fish fry in a couple of hours. She will always be remembered as a very loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include four children, Terry Franda, Michelle (Randy) Brandt, Tammy (Tom) Wagner, and Joe Franda (Laura Frederickson); daughter- in -law, Robyn Franda; 7 grandchildren, Nick (Amber), Samantha (Al), Crystal (Kevin), Chris, Carrie (Cody), Matt, and Zack; 15 great- grandchildren; brother, Andrew (Bernadette) Bellin and a sister- in- law Terri Bellin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Scott; siblings, Alden (Agnes) Bellin, Jean (Ken) Hunsader, Adris Bellin, Ida (Harvey) Ropson, and Dick Bellin; parents-in-law Herbert and Eleanor Lenius, other in-laws Ervin and Jeantte Franda, Dale and Joan Bouchonville, Shirley and Donald Wautier, and Geri Bellin.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. The visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Forbes Funeral Home and then Monday 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. A prayer service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A deeply heart felt thank you to Sue and David from St. Francis & St. Mary Parish for their many visits, to all of Cleo's friends for their help and friendship, and to Unity Hospice and the outstanding staff at Pine Crest for the wonderful care and support. God bless you all!
