Cleslie Herbert Evans Jr.

Cleslie Herbert Evans, Jr., 84, of Elkton, passed away on Monday February 16, 2026 at his residence.

Mr. Evans was born on June 29, 1941 in Hickman County, Kentucky, and was a son of the late Cleslie Herbert Evans, Sr., and Agnes Autra (Floyd) Evans. He served in the USMC for 24 ½ years, working in counterintelligence. He was involved with debriefing the POWs from Vietnam as well as the hostages from Iran.

After retiring, he worked in Security Management. "Chuck" loved coaching church as well as rec league basketball for his daughters, grandchildren, and young church members. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his loving family.

On April 30, 1961 he married the former Martha Ann Ward, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four daughters, Jamie Wooldridge and husband Alan of O'Fallon, IL, Kelly Groves and husband Ralph of Grottoes, VA, Kimberly Arbogast and husband Harold of Senoia, GA, Stacey Breen and husband Casey of Fredericksburg, VA; siblings, Loretta Spraggs, Shirley Evans, Floyd Evans, Linda Shelton, Sherry Williamson and husband Joe; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Steve Evans, Larry Evans and Jean, widow of Larry; and two brothers in law, Gerald Spraggs, and Danny Shelton.

A celebration of life will be held on March 7, 2026 at 2pm at Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Elkton with Pastor Adam Snow officiating. Military rites will be presented by the United States Marine Corps.

The family will receive friends following the service.
