Clifford Lynn Byrne, a beloved life partner, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, was called to eternal rest on April 5, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, at the age of 77. Born on August 9, 1947, Clifford led a life filled with joy, laughter, and a remarkable ability to connect with others.

Having graduated from Centralia High School in 1965, Clifford ventured into the world with a spirit of adventure, enlisting in the US Navy right after completing school.

For many years, he worked diligently for the Department of Transportation in surveying, retiring in the early 2003. Throughout his career, he displayed an unparalleled dedication to his work, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Known for his ornery yet outgoing personality, Clifford never met a stranger. He had a remarkable ability to get along with everyone he crossed paths with, creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. It was said that he never had an enemy, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and warmth. His presence brightened every family gathering, holiday celebration, and casual outing with friends.

Clifford found immense joy on the golf course, where he cherished countless golf trips with his friends. Whether it was enjoying a friendly round of golf or sharing stories over a game of bowling, his laughter and infectious spirit filled the air. He also had a fondness for making unforgettable memories at the casino, always surrounded by laughter and good company.

Family was the cornerstone of Clifford’s life. He shared more than 20 wonderful years with his partner, Becky Babcock, and was a proud father to three sons: Christopher (Melinda) Byrne, Eric (Haven) Byrne, and Brandon (Irene) Byrne. He was also a careful listener and guiding hand to his daughter, Kelly (Brian) Glendinning. As a grandfather, Clifford's heart swelled with pride for Dalton Byrne, Dillon Byrne, Gaje Byrne, Arianna Torrez, Angelo Torrez, Ashton Ketterman, Karly Byrne, Brody Byrne, Isabella Byrne, Braden Byrne, Jacob Glendinning, Luke Glendinning, Kaleb Glendinning, and Ben Glendinning, as well as great-grandchildren Kaelynn Keeling and Kenzo Keeling. Each interaction was a testament to the deep love he had for his family, and he cherished every moment spent together, particularly family get-togethers and the cherished tradition of chili bowls.

Clifford is survived by his loving partner Becky, his adoring children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers Gary Byrne and Stan (Kay) Byrne, and his sister Janet (David) Dunbar. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Leona Byrne, his father, George Earl Byrne, and his sister-in-law, Judy Byrne.

In a life that was rich with relationships and experiences, Clifford's outgoing nature and vibrant spirit will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and endless fond memories — a true testament to a life well-lived.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at Lake Shawnee Golf Course club house from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
