Clifford Lee Gaines, Sr., dedicated father, caring grandfather, and skilled mechanic, passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2023. Clifford was born on December 9th, 1951, in Beaumont, Texas to his beloved parents Buford and Georgia Gaines.
Clifford was a hardworking and talented mechanic who dedicated his life to his craft. He took great pride in his work and was known for his exceptional skills throughout his career.
Those left to cherish his memories are his son Clifford Gaines Jr., Dolores Gaines; daughters, Linda House, Christy Shelby, Melissa Salgado; sister, Marsha Moore; grandchildren Dana Wilkins, Dillan Swor, Dalton Swor, Ashton Foster, Moresa Shelby, Caitlin Shelby, Justin Ervin, Shelby Gaines; along with nine additional great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
His granddaughter, Dana, who lovingly served as his caregiver in his final years, will miss his comforting presence every day. Clifford's great-granddaughter, affectionately nicknamed "Rodeo Girl" by him, will deeply feel the void left by her beloved Papa.
Clifford will always be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering dedication to his family and friends, and remarkable skill as a mechanic. He touched the lives of many with his genuine kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Out of respect for Clifford's memory and in celebration of his life, visitation services will be held on October 15th at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. The visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and conclude at 3:00 PM. A memorial service will follow immediately after the visitation at 3:00 PM.
