Birdie Mae Taylor, born on October 3, 1928, in Perryville, Texas, to Burley and Maggie Hallonquist and passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, in Gilmer, TX. Known as "Bird" or "Momma Bird", she was a lifelong resident of Upshur County and worked in the florist business in Gilmer for 50 years.

Bird married Jack Spencer Taylor on April 25, 1951, in Texarkana, Arkansas, and together they shared thirty-nine loving years of marriage until his passing in June 1990. She was a lifetime supporter of the Gilmer Fire Department and the Fire Service of Texas. Bird served on the Gilmer Cemetery Board for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons Johnny Taylor and wife Barbara of Gilmer, Jerry Taylor and wife Cheryl of Gilmer; grandchildren are beloved granddaughter Katie Ann Taylor of Gilmer, Angie Perry (Chad) of Little Rock, AR., Ashley Noell (Ryan) of Lindale, Crissy Huffman (Michael) of Tyler, JP Werbeck of Overton; beloved niece Phyllis Anderson of Gilmer, nephew Terry Hallonquist of Hallsville; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Jack Taylor and nephew, Ronnie Hallonquist.

Pallbearers are Oscar Martinez, Butch Schattles, Chad Perry, Ryan Noell, Michael Huffman and JP Werbeck. Honorary Pallbearers are the Gilmer Fire Department.

A visitation will be held on November 15, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas. The following day, a funeral service will take place on November 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM, also at Croley Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Gilmer City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart-to-Heart Hospice, 100 W. Hawkins Pkwy Suite A, Longview, TX 75605.
