Funeral services for Gary Lynn Denton, 79, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 14, 2025, in the Chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Don Loyd and George Gomez officiating. Interment to follow at Kelsey Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, at McWhorter Funeral Home.
Gary was born on October 14, 1946, in Henderson, Texas, to E. E. "Pete" Denton and Elnora Ward Denton and passed from this life on November 9, 2025, in Gilmer, Texas.
Gary worked at Lone Star Steel for many years before his retirement. He later worked for Trail Mobile in Longview. Gary was a lifelong Gilmer Buckeye and Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Raymond Denton (Vickie), Belinda Young (James), Wesley Denton, Cassandra Denton, and Almond Denton; sisters, Glenda Moseley, and Gwendolyn Rancilio; brother, Lowell Denton; grandchildren, Jessica, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Raymond Jr., Elnora, J. T., Brandon, Ashley, Brianna, and Braeden; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna Denton; his grandson, Korban; and his brothers, Legrand Denton, and Ronald Denton.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Gilmer Care Center and the Hospice organizations that cared for Gary.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Moseley, James Moseley, Charles Denton Sr., J. T. Young, Brandon Young, and George Gomez.
