Clifford Eugene Schlenker
April 1939 – May 2025
Clifford Eugene Schlenker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in May 2025 at the age of 86.
Born in April 1939 in Alfred, North Dakota, Cliff was raised on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong love of animals and the outdoors. After graduating from Jamestown High School, he pursued his passion for mechanics at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.
It was during these years that Cliff met the love of his life, Dianne Christenson. The two married in 1960 and began their life together in Tacoma, Washington. There, they welcomed their first child, Mark. The family later moved to California, where daughter Anne was born, and eventually settled in Minnesota, where their third child, Kate, completed the family.
Cliff built a successful career in the automotive repair business, owning and operating his own shop for 25 years. Known for his dedication, honesty, and skilled hands, he earned the respect of both his customers and his community.
In Scandia, Minnesota, Cliff and Dianne created a warm home on a small hobby farm, where they raised animals and made countless memories. Cliff had a deep love for horses, enjoyed driving a sleigh in the winter, and took great joy in woodworking and caring for his home and family. Above all, he cherished time spent with Dianne and their growing family.
In retirement, Cliff and Dianne embraced a spirit of adventure, travelling the country together in their RV and enjoying life side by side.
Cliff will be remembered for his strength, humor, and deep devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dianne; their children Mark (Deb), Anne (Jayson), and Kate (James); 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
