Clifton Miller "Butch" Tungate Jr., 67, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his residence.

Born March 16, 1958, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the son of Clifton Miller Tungate Sr. and Edith Wease Tungate.

Butch attended Jennings County High School and was a graduate of Ivy Tech. He served in the United States Army from May 7, 1975-May 6, 1978. He did HVAC work and was owner-operator of Weather Ready in North Vernon for 12 years; he also operated online websites. Butch enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, playing cards; he loved cats and to rescue cats.

Survivors include his sons, Dustin Tungate Sr. of North Vernon and Darryl Tungate and Tiffany of Elizabethtown; his parents, Clifton and Edith Tungate of North Vernon; companion, Teresa Tungate of North Vernon; brother Alan Hulse of North Vernon; sisters, Samantha Sandlin and Mike of North Vernon and Tamantha Lotton and David of Medora; grandchildren, Elianah Tungate of South Carolina, Jett Tungate, Dash Tungate, and Nova Tungate, all of Elizabethtown, Dustin Tungate Jr., Dawson Tungate, Devin Tungate, Lilianna Tungate, Aubrey Tungate, Charlyee Tungate and Gavin Tungate, all of North Vernon; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by son, Steven Miller and niece, Janneil Jackson.

A funeral service for Butch will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Ernest Mathis officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Military Honors will be given by members of Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W. The burial will take place at a later date in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.

Memorials may be made in honor of Butch through the funeral home for expenses.
