Myrtle Elizabeth Gerth, 72, of North Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at her residence.

Born July 9, 1953, in Frankfort, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Christine (West) Johnson.

Myrtle was a graduate of Jennings County High School and retired from the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville and had also worked for the former Jennings Community Care Nursing Home. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, crocheting, reading and cooking.

Survivors include her daughter, Christina Beauchamp of North Vernon; brothers, David Johnson and Ralph (Brenda) Johnson, both of North Vernon; sisters, Charlotte Johnson, Carolyn Johnson and Tammy Hacker, all of North Vernon; grandchildren, Joshua Gerth of North Vernon and Anthony (Leah Jackson) Bagby of Hartsville, and best friend, Chad Fitzgibbon of Butlerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Alice Hacker.

A private family visitation will be held with cremation to follow. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Myrtle through the funeral home for help with expenses.
