A musician, mathematician, tennis player, combat veteran, insurance agent, Christian, husband and father of four, Captain Clinton Lee Wood, 83, of Denver, Colorado, died in Boulder on September 14th.

Clint was born in Garnett, Kansas, on December 31, 1941, to Mary (Spruill) Wood and Montgomery Wood. Clint moved with his mother to Colorado where his lifelong interests in music, math and tennis were kindled. He graduated from East High school ('59) after winning the state tennis championship twice, once in singles and once in doubles. He completed a BS and MS in Mathematics from Colorado State University, as well as an MA in Biblical Studies from Trinity Divinity School.

In 1966, Clint was called by the U.S. Army for active combat duty in Vietnam. He returned the following summer and married Joy C. Trook on September 16, 1967, at First Christian Church. Clint and Joy were blessed with four children: Marlene, Joann, Brian and Timothy. Clint worked as a Farmers Insurance agent for over 44 years and earned multiple professional designations (CPCU, ChFC and CFU).

In the last 20 years of his life, Clint played the bass guitar in a weekly church service for residents at Cherrelyn Healthcare Center. He also served as bassist with the local bands Swing Shift and the Malley Band.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his father and his mother. He is survived by his sister Dixey Teel and four children: Marlene (Jonathan) Hurshman, Joann Codori, Brian Wood (Tracy Cushing) and Timothy (Rachel) Wood. His six grandchildren are William Paige III, Rebecca Merrill, Caleb Hurshman, Krista Hurshman, Logan Myers and Johanna Wood.
