Clodene Greer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ramsey Funeral Home & Crematorium on Aug. 9, 2024.
Chloe Dean Greer, affectionately known as Clodene, of Salado, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and determination.
Born on May 20, 1938, in San Angelo, Texas, Clodene was the daughter of Linnie Landers and J.O. (Jessie Oliver) Greer. She graduated with honors from Lampasas High School, and Austin Business School.
Clodene began a 35-year career with the Department of Defense Civilian Service, exemplifying dedication and excellence. Even after retiring, her boundless energy and creativity led her to establish a successful T-shirt painting business, which she managed for a decade.
Her post-retirement years were filled with service. Clodene generously volunteered with Hospice, assisted seniors with their tax returns, and taught yoga at Salado United Methodist Church. Her role in the "Shepherd Ministry" and her active involvement in the community reflected her deep commitment to both faith and service.
A jack-of-all-trades, Clodene was not only a strict yet loving mother but had a soft touch with her grandsons. She was the heart and soul of her family, guiding them with tough love and well-founded wisdom.
Clodene's adventurous spirit was evident in her pursuits. In her 40s, she achieved her private pilot's license through diligent study, pre-computer era. She completed numerous marathons and embraced various challenges with enthusiasm. Her passions ranged from barrel racing, to exploring the skies, always seizing life's opportunities with vigor.
Clodene's enduring faith in the Lord, deep affection for her family and friends, and zest for life defined her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bobby, and her son Toby Strawn.
She is survived by her daughter Tammy Mills, grandsons Morgan, Dillon (and wife Abbey), great granddaughter Palmer, and great grandson Jack. Her beloved younger sister, Sue Culbert Berry, and nieces Sherry Zuch, Deanie Culbert, Rae Ann Merkle, and Jolynn Culbert also carry forward her legacy.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Isabel's Place in Georgetown and Concho Hospice nurses for their compassionate care.
In honor of Clodene's life, in lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Salado United Methodist Church, 650 Royal Street, Salado, Texas 76571, or a charity of choice.
Clodene's spirit and love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel of Salado United Methodist Church, 650 Royal street, Salado Texas at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 15th and a reception to follow.
