MAMOU - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 10:00 am for Clothilde Marie “Bea” Fontenot. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery with Father Billy Massie officiating services. Bea passed away in Eunice, Louisiana on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the age of 96.
Clothilde Marie “Bea” Fontenot was born in the Eunice area on July 3, 1927 to Theo Moreau and Elvin Ledoux. Bea was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was very creative which made her a great hairdresser and crafter. Bea took a lot of pride in caring for and raising her family. She ensured that they had everything they needed including a strong Catholic faith. Although her passing brings sorrow, her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
Bea is survived two sons, Phillip Fontenot and Robert Fontenot both of Eunice ; two daughters, Dianna Long and husband, Jerry of Baton Rouge and Charlotte Fontenot and husband, Rayford of Mamou; seven grandchildren, Adrienne Fontenot and Lee Barbier of Baton Rouge, Kevin Fontenot and Lauren Zatarain of Baton Rouge, Isabel Fontenot of Baton Rouge, Ethan Fontenot of Lake Charles, Mary Catherine Fontenot of Oregon, Derek Bellon and wife, Lisa of Oberlin, and Kim LeBleu and husband, Shane of Basile; six great grandchildren, Vivienne Fontenot Barbier, Hannah Fontenot, Nathan Fontenot, Sophie LeBleu, Levi LeBleu, and Abel LeBleu; and one brother, Kenneth Moreau and wife, Bobbie of Eunice.
She now rests in Heaven with her parents, Theo Moreau and Elvin Ledoux; husband, McKinley Fontenot; brothers, Robert “Butch” Moreau, Theo “Snook” Moreau, Jr.; and sisters, Helena “Ting” Leger and Dorothy “Tootie” Leblanc.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Friday, September 15, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. A rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 6:30 PM.
