Cloyed Ronald Penrod was born March 25, 1934, to Cloyed Arnold and Rhea Jenkins Penrod in Provo, Utah. Ron had an older brother, William James, and a younger sister, Patricia.
Ron played basketball and ran track competitively in high school. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. Ron served 11 years in the Navy from 1952-1963, serving aboard submarines USS THREADFIN, USS GREENFISH, and USS PERCH. He achieved the rank of Yeoman Chief Petty Officer before being honorably discharged.
Ron earned a degree in accounting and worked in medical billing and collections at Long Beach Memorial Hospital before spending over 30 years in rental property management with Goldrich Kest.
In 1979 Ron married Linda Faye McGill, who had two boys from a previous marriage, Mark Anthony and Michael James, whom he raised with love and patience as though they were his own sons. In 1990 Ron and Linda adopted a daughter, Anna Marie.
Ron enjoyed motorcycling, riding well into his eighties, and for several years he rode with the Patriot Guard Riders, escorting deceased US military veterans to their final resting places around the southwestern United States.
Ron was an avid gardener and baker. He grew the best tomatoes and baked the most delicious pastries and bread, which he loved to share with neighbors, friends, and family.
Ron was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a descendant of early church pioneers. He served in many callings including ward bishoprics and stake high council.
On October 1, 2025, Ron passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is deeply missed by all who love him.
