Clyde Lee Autry, JR, age 97 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at his residence.
C.L. was born on January 18, 1926 in Floyd County, GA, son of the late Clyde Lee Autry, SR and Fannie Mae. He was married to the late Bernice Bailey Autry for 58 years and 4 months. They had one son, Randy Lee Autry who deceased on January 29, 1969. In addition to his parents, wife, and son, he was also preceded in death by: his sister, Betty Mae Cleveland; and three brothers, John P. “Jack” Autry, William B. “Billy” Autry, and Eugene Autry. C.L. worked as a farmer his entire life, other than serving in the Navy in World War II. He served on the Ship USS-Aurelia AKA 23 Highest Rank Cox from 1943 until 1946.
C.L. is survived by two brothers, Troy V. Autry and his wife Mary of Resaca, GA, and Wyman Autry of Plainville, GA.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Corey Forsyth officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery with Navy military honors.
Pallbearers serving include: Kerry Autry, Farron Autry, Dennis Autry, Greg Cleveland, Stanley Cleveland, Wayne Selman, and Keith Braden.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
