Clyde Gene Miller

Clyde Gene Miller was born June 22, 1941, in El Reno to Homer James and Glady Doretha (Eaton) Miller. Clyde grew up Southwest of Calumet. He graduated from Calumet High School in the Class of 1959 and graduated from Capital Business University in 1961 and attended El Reno College.
Clyde was involved in farming for many years. He worked for Canadian County for 28 ½ years, serving as Canadian County Court Clerk the last 17 ½ years and retired in 1990. He served as Past President of the State Court Clerk's Association for 2 years from 1980-1982. He served as Past President of the State County Deputies Association of Oklahoma in 1986-1987. He was serving as Current President of the Retired County Officers of Oklahoma and the Secretary/Treasurer of the Retired Court Clerk Association of Oklahoma. At Maple Elementary School, he served as a Volunteer Basketball Coach for 28 years and as the Encumbrance Minute Clerk for 40 years.
Clyde was a member of Red Rock United Methodist Church most of his life and served as Church School Superintendent for 40 years, Youth Class Teacher for 35 years and Administrative Council Chairman for over 50 years. He was a member of the Red Rock Cemetery Board since 1966, serving as Secretary/Treasurer for 30 years. Clyde was a past member of the El Reno Jaycees. He also served six years with the Oklahoma Army National Guard.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Gladys Miller.
Clyde is survived by his brother, Larry Miller, and his sister-in-law Kathy of Calumet as well as 3 nieces, Kyra Birkhead and husband Chris, Jenny Schweitzer and husband Dave, Renee Harris and husband Brad. He is also survived by 5 great nieces and nephews, Trevor Thompson and fiancé Micalah Findley, Catherine Birkhead, Hannah Harris, Allie Harris, and Luke Harris and 1 great-great nephew, Lincoln Thompson. A host of close friends and family also survive him.

A funeral service to honor the life of Clyde will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Red Rock United Methodist Church in Calumet. Burial will follow in the Red Rock Cemetery. Come and go viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 3 and Friday, August 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m
