He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers: McKinley Batiste and Felton Alexander; paternal grandparents: Henry James, Sr. and Lydia James; six uncles: Vincent Batiste, Wilbert Batiste, Gregory James, Carl Gale, Raymond Charles, and Avery Knatt; and two aunts: Rebecca Gale and Barbara Batiste.
