Cody James Smith

Cody James Smith 33, passed away at his home on December 25, 2025. Born on September 14, 1992 in Battle Creek Michigan to James and Connie Smith. United in Marriage on June 10, 2023 to Ashley Vaughn.

Cody is survived by his wife Ashley and children; Sylas Smith, Lawrence Vaughn, and Maddyson Vaughn, mother Connie Smith, step dad Leon Jones, and siblings, Marcus Smith, Chance Jones, Krystaffur Smith, Brandi Jones and William Smith.

Preceded in death by his father James Russell Smith, Grandfather William Russell Smith, Grandmother, Cynthia Jean Valdez and Cousins, Courtney Smith and Dolly Smith and many Aunts and Uncles.

Cody was an outdoorsman, he loved hiking, fishing, camping, boating, grilling, anything to do with being outdoors and on the water. He was also an animal person who cared deeply about wildlife and any animal that he came across. He also enjoyed rock hunting along the beach with the kids. He cherished his time being a stay-at-home dad homeschooling his children. Cody was a Gift of Life Donor and by donating, he left this world helping others live a better and healthier life. He will live on through his donation and forever be remembered for his giving spirit.

A Visitation for Cody will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Filbrandt Chapel Funeral Home, 1076. S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
