Cody Ray Stapleton

Cody Ray Stapleton, age 39, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2026 surrounded by love with his fiance, Nicole Powers by his side.

Cody and Nicole were joyfully planning their wedding for October 2026 and were building a life rooted in love, music and family.

Together they spent their days making music, loving their children fiercely and cherishing the life they had created side by side.

In his lifetime, Cody was an amazing musician. His music was the fuel to his soul. His passion for music was almost as strong as his passion for his friends and family. A lifetime of music led to the introduction of many friends. Cody never met a stranger. Anyone that knew Cody knew laughter and love. Infamous for his humor and crazy antics, Cody was the star of any room he entered. To know him was to know love. Mom always told him, "You are my Sun." Cody was definitely a light to us all.

Cody leaves behind his parents, Jim and Debbie Stapleton of Bulls Gap, TN; daughter, Rowdy Plank; stepdaughter, Madison Gibson (special friend, Jameson Oram); sister, Cassie (Guy) Smith; brother, Kenny (Wendy) Rakestraw; nieces, Ellie and Phoebe Smith, Aria and Sophie Rakestraw, and many more special loved ones.

On behalf of Nicole and family, Jim and Debbie, Cassie and Guy, Kenny and Wendy, and all the many loved ones in Cody's life, we would like to thank everyone for their outpouring love.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm with Mitch Elkins officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026 in Jones Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Rakestraw, Guy Smith, Wendy Rakestraw, Alex Doane, Charles Stephens, Grover Stephens, Jameson Oram, and Gage Adkins. Honorary pallbearer is Josh Carmack.
