Cody was born on November 12, 1954, in Cedar Rapids to Marley and Pat (Hess) Wade. He graduated from Kennedy High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force and the Navy Reserves. Cody spent much of his career with Iowa Precision Industries, part of Mestek Machinery, retiring on July 9, 2023. He was a member of AmVets and formerly belonged to the Cedar Rapids Eagles Club #2272.
Cody had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in fishing, golfing, mushroom hunting, and gardening. He loved going to baseball games and concerts. A talented cook, Cody was known for smoking meats and competing in chili cook-offs, earning a state championship title in 1999. He was also a gifted metal sculptor, crafting unique pieces with skill and creativity. Cody was the kind of man no one ever had a bad word to say about.
