Cole was born on March 2, 1997, in Powell, Wyoming, to Jay and Leigh (Schneider) Thompson. He attended school in both Wyoming and Nebraska.
Cole was a hardworking and dedicated family man who spent many years as a concrete finisher. Most recently, he began a new trade working as a machinist at CS Precision in Gering.

He shared a special bond with his best friend, Justin, whose boys considered Cole their uncle.
