Shrewsbury / Northborough
In the late hours Thursday, May 8, 2025, Colin Joseph Campbell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud Navy Veteran, lifted the anchor of this life to embark on his new eternal voyage. Born in the borough of Queens, New York City, Colin was the son of John Leo and Mary Lavinia (MacDonald) Campbell. Colin spent his childhood in Brooklyn, New York City, alongside his 7 brothers and sisters. He attended Lasalle Academy in Manhattan prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was most proud of his active service time aboard the destroyer class U.S.S. Charles R. Ware (DD865). Upon his return from his tour, Colin attended St. John's University where he earned a BBA. A testament to Colin's work ethic and patriotism, Colin honorably served his country as a U.S. Naval Reservist from 1957 to 1981.
Colin was employed over thirty years with Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc (conEdison). It was here that he met his future wife, Patricia (née Anderson). In 1973, the young couple moved to Massachusetts as Colin began his 30-year tenure with Yankee Atomic Power, Co. The young couple would soon purchase their new home in Northborough, where they resided for the next 39 years. In 2013, Colin and Patricia relocated their final time to their current home in Shrewsbury.
Colin was a self-proclaimed Civil War buff. He enjoyed visiting historic battlefields and monuments where he would spend hours learning all he could about each one. He had a fascination with ships, the open ocean and the Navy. He also enjoyed reading and challenging himself with crossword puzzles. For numerous years, Colin and Patricia enjoyed traveling, most memorably were trips to Nova Scotia and to Wells, Maine where they owned a summer home. Colin was one of a kind. His family and friends will remember Colin as a wonderful husband and a loving father and grandfather who was filled with humor, always ready to joke and tease and was generous to a fault.
In addition to his devoted wife of 55 years, Patricia, Colin is survived by their daughter, Lora-lynn Campbell Williams; two grandsons, Albert "Cam" Campbell Williams and Connor Joseph Williams; his loving mother-in-law, Theresa Anderson; his son-in-law, Gary Williams; three sisters, Mary Campbell Sister Candide du Ste. Rosaire, Margaret Campbell Sister Cecilia of Saint Michael and Lavinia Becker and her husband James; three brothers, James Campbell, Paul Campbell and Joseph Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews. Colin was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, John Leo Campbell. Colin also leaves his best friend Roy David and Roy's wife, Carole David.
Friends and family are invited to attend Colin's funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 O'clock in the morning on Thursday, May 15th, at Saint Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main Street, Northborough.
