In Loving Memory of Colin P. Compton
9/5/1959 – 11/18/2024
Born in Oak Ridge, TN on September 5, 1959, Colin Paul Compton spent
his youth oscillating between the East Tennessee mountains and the sunny skies
of Florida. He enrolled at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and later
became a skilled lighting engineer. His talents and warm personality were quickly
sought after, and he spent many years touring with big name bands, developing
countless friends and connections within the entertainment industry. He then
earned his Industrial Engineering degree from SPSU in Georgia, followed by
work for Mustang Motorcycles for over ten years, where his expertise brought
him to numerous bike rallies across the country. He continued his work in the
music and movie industry, and was a loyal member of the IATSE local unions
479 and 927 based in Atlanta.
Colin was smart, funny, kind, generous, thoughtful, highly respected, and
always willing to help others. He loved music, cooking, and animals and was an
avid RC sailplane flier as well as a skilled mechanic and engineer. He was a
beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, stepfather, and friend and leaves a huge
hole in the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his wife Cammie and stepdaughter Nikki Newton; niece
Julianna Tullos and husband Andrew Wunderlich; nephew Dietrich Tullos and
wife Jessica; niece Mary Faith Ryan; and endless dear friends and extended
family members. His father Dr. Warren Compton (Gisela), mother Barbara
Compton, and sisters Robin Compton Tullos and Becky Compton Ryan have
been previously laid to rest.
Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date. In lieu of flowers
please send donations to your local animal rescue organization, the Freedom To
Read Foundation, or the Friends of the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry
Ave, DeLand, FL 32724.

Miss you, buddy. My wife and I worked with Colin at Mustang Motorcycle Seats for over ten years. Wonderful memories. Lots of fun and after-work socializing. Be at peace, my brother. Pat and Tony Pierantozzi

Colin I always felt is kindred brother to me. He was wonderful to be around in the Vari-Lite days. I love having conversations with Colin, he was bright, funning and caring. Colin will be a missing in my life and the world.

Colin was a coworker at Vari-Lite who rented rooms in our house in Dallas. Back then he lived for Taco Bell and Porsches. He wasn´t the tidiest and I have always felt guilty for upsetting him one time by organizing his storage room while he was on tour. You could not meet a kinder, funnier, more patient, tolerant, generous guy. He was there for people in need. I am so glad to learn he married. He had so much love to give and people were always trying to fix him up because he was so sweet, but he had a mind of his own about such things. This is a real loss to the world. Deepest sympathies to his family.
