Colleen Kessler Obituary
North Liberty
Colleen Jean Kessler, 77, of North Liberty, formerly of Solon, passed away Monday, March 2, 2026, at Keystone Place, North Liberty, IA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Iowa City, with Father Troy Richmond officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 AM, prior to Mass at the church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Hills, IA. A luncheon will be held afterwards at the Kirkwood Room in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Colleen was born on March 25, 1948 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Mary "Luella" (Meade) Lynch. She graduated from Regina High School in 1966. Colleen was united in marriage to Lloyd Kessler on October 7, 1967; he preceded her in death after 40 years of marriage on December 5, 2007. Colleen spent many years working on the family farm, she also worked at Ellen's daycare in Solon, and ACT in Iowa City.
Colleen cherished every moment spent with her three grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in their laughter, their stories, and the time they shared together.
Colleen is survived by her son, Aaron (Heather) of Cary, IL and grandchildren, Olivia, Addison, and Austin; brother and sisters; Bev Whetstine, Pat Lynch, Dan (Robin) Lynch, Mike Lynch, and Kristy (John) Kellbach; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary Lynch, a brother Larry Lynch, a brother-in-law Jim Whetstine, two nieces Lori Whetstine and Sonja Kistler, and a nephew Jesse Lynch.
