Colleen Shultz

Colleen June "CJ" Shultz, 58, of Fort Valley, GA, passed away at home on Thursday evening, January 27, 2022, following a 5-month battle with pancreatic cancer and a major stroke.
CJ was born on September 18, 1963, to parents Earl Henry Hansen and Margaret Irene O'Dell in Norwalk, OH.
In the fall of 1980, CJ was a student at South Central High School in Greenwich, OH when she met Mark Shultz at her school football game. The two were immediately inseparable, marking the beginning of their love story. CJ graduated soon after in the spring of 1981. She and Mark were married August 20, 1983, and in 1986, they left Ohio together to pursue Mark's career in the Air Force. CJ was a devoted wife and a loving mother of two beautiful daughters. She often volunteered in her daughters' classrooms at school, chaperoned numerous field trips, supported their interests and extracurriculars, and was the Girl Scout Leader of Troop 65 for 5 years. Mark's 24 1/2 years of military service led the family to Virginia, Alaska, Texas, and eventually Georgia where they settled. After her daughters had grown, CJ focused on her education and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Human Resources, with Honors, from Park University in 2014. CJ enjoyed traveling all over the world with Mark to places such as Germany, Poland, Prague, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Singapore, Israel, Amsterdam, Paris, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. Her favorite place was Hawaii, but she thrived most when surrounded by her family.
CJ is survived by her husband, Mark Shultz of 38 years, daughters Rebecca (Aaron) Cain of California and Michaela (Colter) Cox of Georgia, grandsons Maddox Cain and Marcus "Topher" Cox, and CJ's brothers William Hansen of Arizona and Thomas Hansen of Georgia.
CJ was preceded in death by her father, Earl Hansen, and her mother, Margaret Needles.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at 5631 Walton Rd, Fort Valley, GA 31030 on Saturday, February 19, 2022, between 2PM and 5PM. Bright colored attire is highly encouraged. In lieu of flowers, the family requests live, kid-friendly plants so they may be planted in a private memorial garden dedicated to Colleen. Donations may also be made in her honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a research organization dedicated to developing early detection methods and better treatment options for those diagnosed with pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.
