A beloved Middle Georgia native, Dorothy Lynn Campbell entered into rest on Monday, October 7, 2025, just three days shy of her 82nd birthday.
Born on October 10, 1943, in Macon, Georgia, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Walker P. Montgomery, Sr. and Dorothy (Hartness) Montgomery. She was raised in Warner Robins, where she graduated from Warner Robins High School. Dorothy went on to earn her bachelor's degree in music from Wesleyan College in Macon. With the voice of an angel, Dorothy was a proud member of Wesleyan’s Singing Group.
Dorothy went on to teach for a year and later pursued a long and accomplished career as a Logistics Specialist at Robins Air Force Base. A brilliant thinker and widely respected, she was part of the strategic planning “Think Tank” and often briefed military generals until her retirement.
Above all, Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her wisdom, compassion, and boundless love shaped the lives of those who knew her. She was adventurous, fun-loving, and always ready to laugh. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family. She enjoyed attending concerts and plays with her son, David. Dorothy also loved her grandchildren, with whom she played dress-up, attended baseball games, and shared countless moments of joy and imagination.
Dorothy had a talent for making a house a home. Her meatloaf and mac ’n’ cheese were legendary in the family, and she took joy in cooking for the ones she loved. She was deeply connected to nature, enjoyed Lake Sinclair, loved to sing, and shared her gift of music through her many years with the Milledgeville Singers Guild.
Bright, beautiful, and incredibly sharp, Dorothy rarely missed a question on Jeopardy! Though not fond of large crowds, she was deeply loyal to those she held dear, forming strong, lasting friendships and deep family bonds. She was sacrificial in the truest sense, always putting others before herself. Her memory will be cherished, her love forever felt, and her presence sincerely missed.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Walker P. Montgomery, Jr.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her children, David Carver, Jonathan Adam Carver (Lori), and Kathryn Carver; grandchildren, Addysin Gay (Youssef), Matthew Waugh, Kinleigh Carver, Grayson Carver; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Montgomery.
At the family’s request, all services held will be private.
