Collette McGee Obituary

Collette Lorraine McGee lived quietly, yet her presence filled every room she entered. With a gentle nature, a warm smile, and a heart inclined toward care, she made others feel seen without ever asking for attention herself. She passed from this life on Thursday, February 26, 2026, following her beloved husband of 41 years, Joey, by just six short months—proof that some love stories refuse to be separated for long.

Born on July 1, 1966, to Jerry Philip and Pamela Louise (Martin) Hamby, Collette was a cherished daughter and devoted sister to Yvette and Michael. Her early years took her from Sacramento, California, to the wide Oklahoma plains of Olustee, Oklahoma where her family worked hauling hay earning a penny per bale and building a life rooted in hard work and humility. It was there, while attending Olustee School, that Collette met the boy who would become her forever—Joey Alan McGee. Age mattered little to hearts certain of their path, and on May 19, 1984, their lives were beautifully joined.

Collette balanced duty and devotion with grace, serving as the Postmaster in Tipton while pouring herself fully into raising their children, Brandon and Brianna. She loved the rhythm of motherhood—the hurried mornings, the school programs, the games and gatherings—never missing a moment that mattered. A romantic soul, she found joy in romance novels, long walks, and a well-kept home so spotless it became legend. Her hands were rarely still, busy crafting jams and jellies, and her famous candied pecans became a sweet signature, shared generously at trade shows and beyond.

Yet, nothing compared to the joy she found in becoming a Mimi. In them, her heart expanded. She lingered in their laughter, gathered family close, and made sure no moment of togetherness went to waste. Her love became the thread that drew everyone home.

A natural caregiver, Collette gave without hesitation and served without expectation. She was a faithful member of the Red River Cowboy Church, where her welcoming smile became a quiet ministry of its own—one that spoke of kindness, comfort, and belonging.

Though her voice was soft, the echo of her love will remain—in family traditions, in shared stories, and in the sweetness of memories carefully preserved. Collette leaves behind a legacy of devotion, gentleness, and love well-lived—a life measured not in noise, but in meaning.

Collette was preceded in death by her husband, Joey; and mother, Pamela Edwards. Her steadfast faith and compassion will live on in her children, Brandon McGee (Haley) and Brianna Billingsley (Josh); grandchildren, Braelyn McGee, Sawyer Billingsley, Stella Billingsley, Lenox McGee, and Tracker Corley; sister, Yvette Hamby (Eddie Bush); brother, Michael Keller (Kim); sister-in-law, Sabina Long (Mark); brother-in-law, Marcus Smith (Christina); Barbara Moreau, Sandra Townsend; 11 nieces and nephews; special friend, Ruby Thomas; and a host of other family members and friends.

The family will formally greet friends from 6:00–8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Kincannon Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Red River Cowboy Church, with Pastor Darrell Coffman officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Hess Cemetery.

The family humbly requests that memorials in Collette’s name be made to the RRCC | 1001 N. Byers Avenue | Mangum, OK 73554. Online memorial tributes and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.kincannonfuneralhome.com.
