It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Collette "Lettie" Rios, known lovingly as Lettie, but preferred Collette, who suddenly left us on January 23, 2026, having only brightened our world since October 8, 2025. Collette's radiant, uplifting presence, calm demeanor, and well-spirited aura, brought joy, brightness, and a renewed sense of life to all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Collette is deeply mourned by her father, Damian Rios, her mother, Shannon Hetrick, and her adoring sisters, Eloise and Noelle Rios, who all cherished her greatly. As a daughter and a sister, she brought immense joy and positivity into our lives, a bond strengthened by affectionate cuddles.
Her zest for life was evident in the simplest activities she undertook. From the joy she found in playing on her mat and the effort she made during Tummy Time to her mammoth strength of always holding her head up high, Collette taught us all to enjoy the little things in life and how to remain strong even when the odds are against us. It's a legacy of love and strength that she leaves behind.
Collette had a sweet nature and found comfort in the simplest pleasures in life. She thrived during nursing times, and the tender tunes of "The Happy Song," brought her immense joy. She also found happiness in the colorful world of Disney movies, reflecting her preference for all things vibrant, particularly the color pink.
Collette had an endearing personality that can best be described as an uplifting spirit which brightened everyone's mood. Her calm demeanor, bright smile, and well-spirited character touched everyone who interacted with her. She showed us how to be gentle, filled with enriching love, and how to appreciate life in all its simplicity.
Friends and family will miss Collette. Every life she touched mourns her sudden departure, forever remembering her greatest lesson, that of gentleness, love, and strength. Her memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she left behind, a constant reminder to live, love, and appreciate the moments we share.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown Chapel.
