The world got a little dimmer and Heaven a lot rowdier on May 14, 2025, when Lee Linn finally decided she had better places to be (and probably better snacks). At 80 years young, Lee lived every moment like it was happy hour and ensured no room went unlit by her laugh and spirit.
Her sense of humor was legendary, sharp, sassy, and only slightly threatening if you messed with her loved ones. She gave the best advice, the kind that made you laugh, think, and occasionally worry about where she was hiding the shovel.
Lee loved deeply and loudly. She had the kind of heart that could power a small city and the loyalty that made her family and friends feel like royalty, or at least like they had a solid accomplice.
When she wasn't charming strangers or giving side-eye to people, Lee could be found with a book in one hand and a bowling ball in the other. She read voraciously, bowled competitively (with only mild trash talk), and somehow still made time to be the glue, duct tape, and glitter that held her family together.
Lee is survived by the family she adored, friends who still can't believe she's not just on vacation, and several unfinished books she swore she'd get to "right after this next chapter."
Lee is preceded in death by both of her parents; two brothers, Tracy and Larry; and, most importantly, she is reunited with her youngest son, Chad, which had to have been a heck of a reunion.
In her honor, please read something you love, hug someone too tight, laugh too loud in public, and always remember: if someone's giving you trouble, Lee would have recommended a well-placed hole and plausible deniability.
Rest in hilarity, Lee. Heaven just upgraded.
A Celebration of Life will be on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Boone VFW, 815 Keeler Street, Boone, IA 50036.
