Connie Denise Velde

Connie Denise Velde passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Marshall Regional Hospital in Marshall, MN at age 66.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Pastor Sarah Tadé will officiate and burial will be in West Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery around 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be recorded and livestreamed. Visitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Granite Falls Lutheran Church with a prayer service at 7:45 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Connie Denise Velde (Severson) was born July 3, 1959, in Montevideo, MN, to Curt and Winnie (Roberts) Severson. She was baptized in Hazel Run, MN, confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, and attended Clarkfield School, graduating in 1978. She then graduated from Alexandria Tech School for Fashion Merchandising.

Connie was united in marriage to Timothy Velde on January 9, 1982, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. They made their home near Granite Falls, where she spent most of her working career employed at the Granite Falls School. She was a special needs para and was one of the first paras to attend school and become a certified para for special education students. She later worked in the high school principal’s office as a secretary for many years.

Connie often called herself a full-time professional volunteer, including Circle Sentencing, Altar Guild, Sunday School, Confirmation teacher, and community quilting, to name a few—and any other community event she was asked to help with. She was active in DFL and Farmers Union. She loved any kind of needlework, including sewing, quilting, hardanger, and embroidery. She also loved following her grandchildren’s sporting events and life happenings, along with traveling.

Connie is survived by her husband Tim of 44 years and became partner in raising Grant (Becky), Kelli (Mike) and Jake (Gen). To this marriage they had Amanda (Chuck). Grandchildren Brooke (Ozzie), Tyson (Julie), Emma (Jamison), Hannah (Corbin), Zoe, Hunter, Will, Caleb, and Seth. Great Grandchildren Ellie, Gunner, Wyatt, and Sophie with 1 more to join them in April. Her parents Curt & Winnie, her sister Natalie (Paul), brother Brent (Denise), sisters-in-law Vonnie and Colleen (Rick) with many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind other extended family and friends, with too many to name.

She was preceded in death by her in-laws Gerald & Harriett Velde and brother-in-law Duane Severson.
