Connie Williams Obituary

A memorial service for Connie (Rebell) Williams, age 77, of Clovis, New Mexico, will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, June 13, 2025 at First Methodist Church in Clovis with Rev. Jeb Archey of Clovis officiating. Connie died Thursday, June 5, 2025 in Clovis. She was born on January 24, 1948 in Denver, CO to Milton and Faith (Lewis) Rebell.
The daughter of two educators, Connie earned her degree in education from the University of Northern Colorado. Connie met her future husband, David, when her best friend DeDe introduced her to her boyfriend Jimmy's brother. David and Connie were married on July 19, 1970 in Denver. Following their wedding Connie and David moved to Las Cruces, where she began her teaching career. After David's graduation from NMSU, they moved to Clovis where Connie quickly became involved in Junior Women's Club and P.E.O., Chapter G and later Chapter AB. After her children started school, Connie began her career at James Bickley Elementary School where she held several positions. She ended her career running the HOSTS (Help One Student To Succeed) reading program for 6 years. She retired in 2008. David and Connie were members of First Methodist Church for over 50 years. Connie served the church in many ways, including as a member of Circle 5, several years on the church finance committee, a regular volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels, and over 30 years in the Asbury Ringers bell choir. Connie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her close friends known as "The Group." She was an avid bridge player and made many lifelong friends through her Tuesday Night Bridge Club. She loved spending time with her children, but her favorite title was "Grammy." Whether it was cheerleading, gymnastics, soccer, football, basketball or track, she attended as many of their events as she could. Connie is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David, and her parents.
She is survived by her children Jennifer Williams of Clovis, Dayna Williams of Dallas, and Todd and Adrienne Williams of Lubbock; grandchildren Alli Williams of Lubbock and Reese Williams of Lubbock; a great-granddaughter arriving later this year; in-laws Jimmy and DeDe Williams of Narthrop, Colorado, and Deborah Williams of Farwell. She is also survived by her cousins, nieces and nephews, her bonus family, Jeb, Mindy, Katy and Addison Archey, and bonus daughter Sharie (JR) Hubbard.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Rev. Jeb Archey for his love and support, Dr. Stephen Haynes for taking special care of Connie and her dear friend Carolyn Murphy, for all her love, friendship and support.
Honorary Pall Bearers will be Dr. Ken Merritt, Mike McDaniel, R. Lynn Blair, Rob Williams, Ben McDaniel, Alan Blair, and Eric Marsh.
The family suggests memorials be sent to First Methodist Church, 1501 Sycamore, Clovis, New Mexico, 88101. Online condolences may be made at www.ellisfuneralhomes.com.
