In Loving Memory of Constance Otis Ashwood
April 9, 1947 – June 12, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constance Otis Ashwood, who unexpectedly left us on June 12, 2025. She was 78 years old.
Constance was the devoted mother to Torrey, Tamara, Tanya, Tara, and Tiffany, and the cherished grandmother of Emily, Megan, Marrisa, Jacob, Nicholas, Emma, Victoria, and Kristian. She is reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband Donald Ashwood, her precious granddaughter Sarah Bathurst, her loving parents Barbara(nee Boyer) and Robert Otis and her adored furry baby Boots.
Connie.a.k.a. Grandma, as she was affectionately known, was a woman of deep love, quiet strength, and unforgettable warmth. Her life was a mosaic of simple joys and meaningful moments that became treasured memories for all who knew her.
Whether she was riding the "tractor" (a.k.a. the lawnmower) with a grandchild in her lap, or watching her grandkids laugh and play on the hill in Lake Placid, Connie found her greatest happiness in the presence of family. Movie nights were a beloved tradition, whether it was the magical world of Harry Potter, the action-packed Marvel universe, or even a Saw horror film-if her grandchildren were watching, Grandma was right there beside them.
Summers at the beach were always a grand production, with totes of toys in tow so every grandchild had something to enjoy. And no family gathering was complete without her famous macaroni and cheese, banana bread, or her legendary jubilee jumbos.
Whether gently encouraging with her familiar "in or out!"-directed not only at her grandchildren darting through the door, but also at her sweet cat Max-she brought both humor and heart to everyday life.
The memories made on Cobble Hill-with laughter echoing through the home, children running free, (stomping up the stairs upon arrival) and the smell of home cooking in the air-will remain with us always. They are a testament to the love and joy that Mom/Grandma infused into every part of her life.
Constance Otis Ashwood's legacy is one of unconditional love, family unity, and beautiful shared traditions. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished by the ones who loved her so dearly.
