Constance Bageris, nee Zazas, age 93, of
Troy, Michigan passed away on March 11, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She joins her recently departed and devoted husband of 70 years, Plato in Eternal rest.
Devoted and loving mother of Andrea (Doug) Rogers, Jennifer (Jeff) Shandler and Mary Ellen (Scott) Miller. Cherished YiaYia of Zachary (Melyssa) Shandler, Christopher Rogers, Alexis (Rick) Hamilton, Sam (Marisa) Rogers, Elena Miller, Suzanne (Nick) Heffron, Jacqueline (Kirby) Taylor, Mary Rogers, and Jennifer Miller. Loving great grandmother to seven. Dear sister of Aynne Zazas, Cristine (Nicholas) Leventis. Loving sister-in-law to Diane Bageris. Fond aunt, great aunt and friend to many. Constance was preceded in death by husband Plato, her mother Mary Zazas and her sister, Helen (Gus) Kokas.
Born in Danville IL, and the third of four daughters, her family found their way to Detroit in 1934, where Constance graduated from MacKenzie High School at age 16. She met her husband, Plato, at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, the parish they attended throughout their youth. She began her career in 1950, at Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, where she held several positions in accounting and established several treasured lifelong friendships. Constance rejoined the workforce after her children were in school. She pioneered "take your daughter to work day" exposing her daughters to professional life. She continued working in the legal profession, holding positions in accounting and office management, retiring in 1991.
Although Constance's most cherished role was being a Mom, she was a talented seamstress, excellent homemaker and cook, leaving a legacy of appreciating good food and gracious entertaining. She was an avid reader, gardener, enjoyed golf, bowling, refinishing furniture, and playing bridge. In her later years, she especially enjoyed euchre with her grandchildren. She was happiest making lasting memories with her family.
Constance will be remembered as a strong, selfless woman with a generous heart who always put her family first. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She instilled those values in her family as they watched her example throughout her life.
Family and friends will meet for visitation Monday, March16, 2026 from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 760 W Wattles Rd,
Troy, MI 48098. Constance will be laid to rest at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery.
