Constance Gillon Obituary

Constance (Hoen) Gillon (nee Sabol), age 91, passed away with her family by her side on May 14, 2025. Connie was born on Jan. 24, 1934, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to John and Theresa (Stahl) Sabol, who have preceded her in death.

Connie is survived by her loving children, Rob Hoen, Tom (Kelly) Hoen, Sandy Hoen and Paul Hoen; her grandchildren, David (Beth), Mark (Nicole), Michelle (Drew), Danielle, Tommy and Marissa (James); her great-grandchildren, Avery, Emma, Kawena, Maya and Antoine; and many nieces and nephews, with a special closeness to the Langleys, John (Jan), Patti, Judi (Gotham), Lainey (Marko) and David (Leslie).

She was also preceded in death by her first husband of 25 years, David Hoen; her son, David Hoen; her second husband, Richard Gillon; her sister, Joan Langley; and her brother, Richard Sabol.

Connie loved being a mother above all else. A constant presence in the stands of countless baseball games, she never missed an opportunity to root for her children; even stepping in once to coach third base with a baby on her shoulder. Her involvement with the PTA helped to spawn the Marquette High School's girls' volleyball program. Though she never played the sport herself, she volunteered as one of its first coaches.

The consummate nurturer, Connie worked as an RN after raising her children, giving her patients the same attentive care she gave her family.

In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, baking and watching sports. She especially enjoyed wintering in Hawaii where she visited her children and grandchildren. A regular at the local bingo halls, Connie always had a ready smile for her fellow players and a zest for competition. She lit up every room she ever entered, and her light continues to shine as her love lives on.

Friends may visit with the family at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 5 p.m. with Deacon William Zientarski officiating.
