Constance Lewis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home - Selbyville on Dec. 18, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Constance Cathell Lewis, lovingly known as "Connie," who left this world peacefully on December 14, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born on April 22, 1948, in Salisbury, Maryland. Connie was married to Robert H. Lewis for 36 years before his passing. They returned to the Eastern Shore in 2000 and spent the remainder of their lives together in the area in which they were born.
For many years, Connie dedicated her professional life as a secretary at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, providing invaluable support in the intensive care unit. Her kindness, dedication, and compassionate spirit touched the lives of countless patients and their families, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.
Connie was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and loving great-grandmother. She is survived by her two sons, Todd Metzger (Melanie) and Brian Lewis (Shawn), who carry forward her legacy of love and strength. Her spirit will continue to shine through her beloved grandchildren: Rachel Lewis, Patrick Tune, Noah Metzger, Levi Metzger, Obadiah Metzger, and Sydney Metzger. Connie was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Hazel Metzger, and a great-grandson, James Metzger, who brought immeasurable joy to her later years.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Connie is survived by her brother, Burton David Cathell, and her sisters, Jane Jones and Lisa Cathell. She was a cherished sister, aunt, and friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be deeply missed.
Connie found joy and fellowship at Beacon Baptist Church in Millville, Delaware, where her faith and community were integral parts of her life. Her warmth and genuine nature provided comfort not only to her family but to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In this time of sorrow, we remember Connie for her unwavering love, her gentle spirit, and the countless lives she enriched. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Constance was preceded in death by her parents Burton & Carolyn Cathell and her husband of 36 years Robert H. Lewis.
