Constance M. Sobchuk, 88 years old, widower of George R. Sobchuk Sr., of Plainville, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2024 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut.
Constance was born January 26, 1936 in New Britain where she lived most her life before moving to Plainville. She is predeceased by her parents Santos and Lucy Cannarella.
Constance graduated from New Britain High School and spent most of her career as a hairdresser. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Church, New Britain, where she devoted her time as a church deacon, a member of the Ladies Guild and a participant in multiple church activities. She spent most of her time cooking, baking and crocheting. Constance was a devoted wife for 60 years before George's death in 2018.
Constance is survived by her daughter Lesleeann Knowlton and her husband Robert of Forestville, her son George R. Sobchuk and his companion Cheryl Veloccia of Port Richie, Florida, her son Mark D. Sobchuk and his wife Lisa of Higganum, and her daughter Brenda Hitchcock and her husband Theodore of Plainville. Constance also had 7 grandchildren, Robert, Bryan, Alicia, Christopher, Stephen, Matthew and Madison. She also has 2 great grandchildren, Nicholas and Charlie, and many Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Ann Church of St. Joachim Parish, 101 North St., New Britain. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
