Constance "Connie" L. Williams-Hickman, age 82 of Bear, DE passed away at Christiana Hospital a day after her birthday from complications of RSV and COPD.
Constance was born in Upland, PA on February 21, 1942, to the late James H. and Helen Davis Mann. She raised her two children as a single mother until she met the love of her life, Aubrey "Tom" Hickman. She shared almost 50 years with Tom until his passing in 2022. She was a beloved mother, who was patient, kind, loving, good natured, enjoyed life, strong, compassionate, caring, brave, considerate, and gentle.
She worked for BJ Wholesale Club for almost 30 years as a food demonstrator until she had to retire early as health issues started. Her favorite food was lobster and was looking forward to her birthday celebration to enjoy it. She loved traveling and one of her favorite places was Tennessee. She was a collector of many things, whether angels, horses, owls, bunnies. She also loved Elvis and Thomas Kincaid art.
Connie was a beautiful person from the inside out. She had a light within her that kept shining until it was time for her to move on to Heaven with her loved ones and God. Her sense of humor was like no other, she could sit and talk for hours with her family. Everyone that had a chance to know her holds a special place and memory in their hearts.
On days when she didn't think she could, she at least tried. Her quote to how she would want to be remembered, "Don't give up when you want, you will be surprised how much you can push yourself. Stay true to the Lord and go in his name. Never stop praying. I have never lost my faith no matter how bad things got."
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Connie was preceded in death by her sister, Betsy E. Arnold, brothers James H. Mann Jr. and Robert P. Mann, and many fur babies.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula R. Williams, Lewis E. Williams, stepdaughter, Barbara Harrell, grandchildren, Krystyn Williams, Courtney Testa (Will), Matthew Pyle, Rachel Schilling (Ronnie), and Vanessa Williams, three great-grandchildren, sister, Karen L. Hayden (Paul) and Deborah Mann. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, her beloved companion, Tinker, and her dear friend since they were teenagers, Marilyn Baumann.
Connie will be missed and loved dearly.
Graveside service is on March 8th, 2024, Friday at 11am at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
