It is with profound sadness that the family of David E. Warren announces his passing.
David E. Warren, residing in Middletown, DE, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025. He was 77 years old. David was surrounded by his loving and devoted wife Janet and his precious daughters Jennifer and Kathryn.
David was born on May 13, 1948 in Silsbee, TX. He grew up in a military family and with his mother, father and siblings, lived an adventurous childhood. David lived abroad in many countries including Panama and Morocco. As a boy, he played baseball in the World Series Little League Championship in Wiesbaden, Germany. He and his family also lived in various places in the US and in his teens, they made Cocoa Beach, FL home. David graduated from Cocoa High School and went on to the University of Florida where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing. Two favorite and lifelong identities were forged in his beloved Gainesville where he became a Gator and, even more significantly, a young father.
David began his career in the apparel industry and he achieved much success. In New York City, he met his beloved wife Janet with whom he shared his two beloved daughters, Jennifer and Kathryn. No one worked harder or with more passion, fastidiousness, dedication, honesty and integrity than David. He rose in his career and held US division positions including President of Calvin Klein, President of Jordache Jeans and Vice President of Tommy Hilfiger.
In 1997, David had not yet turned 50 when he became severely ill and overcame a life-threatening illness after a long and arduous battle and recovery. Throughout his entire life, David faced every trial that came his way with dignity, grace, strength and resilience. He never once complained. Even on the day he passed, when asked by doctors how he was feeling, he was still telling them he was doing okay.
In 2001, after years of residing in lovely places including Connecticut, New York City and New Jersey, David and Janet made a lifestyle change and moved to Bluffton, SC. There they owned and operated Stitch Designs, an embroidery company proudly serving the Bluffton and Hilton Head Island communities. Working side by side, they didn't have customers, they had friends.
David enjoyed traveling, golfing, going to the movies and good food. He especially loved when his children and grandchildren came to visit. His family was his greatest pride and joy. David and Janet enjoyed the Lowcountry lifestyle immensely for twenty years and Bluffton represented a new start for them, offering stability and great beauty. The beauty there never went unnoticed by David, who loved being surrounded by the water. In 2022, David and Janet moved to Delaware to be closer to their family.
David is predeceased by his mother, Sarah Brookins Warren and his father, Archie Perry Warren. David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janet Warren; his daughters, Jennifer Warren McNulty and Leigh Kathryn Warren; loving grandchildren, Megan, Anna, Conner and Olivia; brother, Wesley Warren (Sue); sister, Rebecca Burton; and sister-in-law, Joann Clemente (Craig). David is remembered by his former wife, Corinne, and many other family members including Linda, John; nephews, Joey and Mikey; other nephews and nieces, great nephews and great nieces, many cousins and friends from all chapters of his life. David loved you all.
David loved angels and now he is amongst them. He had a tremendous, gentle heart, loved life and gave everything he had and more. He is in a better place and until we all meet again, may there be Gator sports, the golf channel, Formula 1 racing, Elvis on the radio, and chocolate cake.
Words cannot convey how heartbroken we are, how loved he will always be and how much he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. David believed "It is a lucky man who is happy with his place in life."
Arrangements will be private.
