David A. Brannan, age 86, of Chesapeake City, Maryland, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025.

Born on May 27, 1939, in Wilmington, Dave was the son of the late Howard W. Brannan and A. Audrey Hayden Brannan. He attended P.S. DuPont High School and went on to serve in the Air National Guard. Following his service, he graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Psychology.

Dave spent much of his professional career with the DuPont Company in Wilmington, where his talents and dedication led him to become manager of the reprographics department. After retiring, Dave settled near the Bohemia River in Chesapeake City, Maryland, where he enjoyed the peaceful community and many years of sailing and boating on the local waterways.

A man of many talents and passions, Dave was a gifted musician who found joy in playing guitar and violin. He was also an avid bird watcher, a dedicated amateur radio operator, and a keen photographer, especially of wildlife. Dave had a lifelong interest in cars and technical things, always appreciating the details and craftsmanship behind them. His curiosity and appreciation for both the natural and mechanical worlds were lifelong companions that brought him and those around him much joy.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bonnie B. Hearn; and his nephew, Andrew J. Biddle.

He is survived by his nephew, G. David Biddle, Sr. (Valerie) of Cochranville, Pennsylvania, and his great-nephews, David, Jr., and Samuel, along with friends and neighbors who will remember him with deep affection.

Dave will be remembered for his quiet contentment, kindness, and sincerity, as well as his love of music, nature, cars, and the simple pleasures of life.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at Daniels & Hutchison, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE, from 11:00 – 11:30 am, with a celebration of life to begin at 11:30 am. Burial will be private.
